The Kandla Port Trust will construct a 11th cargo berth that can handle larger-capacity vessels. Now, the port has ten berths in a straight line with an aggregate quay length of 1.98 kms to handle dry cargo traffic.
At present, the dry cargo berth complex is operating at a high berth occupancy level of 94 per cent. The existing berths are catering to the vessels of up to 11.20 meter draughts. This has necessitated construction of a new infrastructure for berthing of big sized dry cargo vessels, the port trust said
