China's 141 airports handled 4.02 million tonnes of cargo last year, an increase of 18.4 percent over the previous year.
Beijing Capital International Airport, the top performer over the past five years, was surpassed by Shanghai Pudong, which handled 634,966 tonnes, a jump of 80.1 percent. Beijing grew 6.4 percent, handling 629,045 tonnes, while Guangzhou saw an increase of 8.9 percent, with 496,879 tonnes. Hongqiao Shanghai handled 439,904 tonnes, a decline of 2.7 percent.
