Companies cite foreign exchange woes In the wake of recent foreign exchange losses, the Korea Shipowners' Association has called on the government to reform the industry's current accounting system.
The association held a seminar yesterday to address the issue.
It said shipping companies, which purchased vessels ― some costing hundreds of millions of dollars ―locally in U.S. dollars borrowed from international institutions, run into the red when the economy booms but post surpluses during economic hard times
