Pirates rob ship near Singapore Straits

PIRATES armed with guns and sickles attacked a vessel cruising near the entrance of the Singapore Straits on Wednesday night.

It is the closest pirates have come to the Republic in more than two years.

The eight attackers glided up in a speedboat and, using grappling hooks, boarded the Doceriver, a bulk carrier, at about 11pm.
