With a capacity of more than 63,000 gross tons, the shipping vessel James R. Barker has plied the waters of the Great Lakes since 1976, delivering iron ore, coal and grain from Duluth, Minn., to ports such as Buffalo, N.Y.
And like the vessel that bears his name, Barker is accustomed to making waves.
