SITKA--Passengers and crew were evacuated by lifeboat and passing ships on Monday after the state ferry LeConte struck a reef and got stuck, Alaska Marine Highway System officials said.
Three people were being taken to Sitka for medical treatment, about 30 miles south of the accident scene. Two were believed to have possible back injuries. No information was available on the third person, said marine highway spokeswoman Nona Wilson
