TEHRAN (PIN) - Since 8,000 ocean-going tanker ships pass through the Persian Gulf, one million tons ship ballast water enters the Persian Gulf per day.

Deputy head of Ports and Shipping Organization told the first conference on implementation and supervision over International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments that based on current estimates more than 3,000 species belonging to salty and fresh water are transferred by ship ballast water, thus posing a great threat of emergence of invasive species in various parts of the world ......
