The French shipping company CMA CGM has confirmed today that all ports and terminals Libya's activity is stopped because of the uprising taking place in the African nation. The local maritime agency based in Tripoli Libya Overseas Shipping Co. (OSCL), which represents the company Alps, is open even in the presence of a skeleton staff, while the firm's offices in Benghazi, Misurata Khoms and are closed . In addition, CMA CGM has confirmed that telecommunications services in Libya and the Internet are not fully operational.
Currently, the French company has a ship moored in the port of Misurata and another at anchor outside the port of Tripoli. CMA CGM continues to accept bookings for shipments to Libya with the exception of refrigerated cargo and dangerous goods: cargo to Libya are temporarily stored in Malta, from where it will start to Libyan ports when they are reopened.
