Today in St. George Palace, home of the Port Authority of Genoa, was presented the project "The chain of the port" which aims to raise awareness among secondary school children the reality of the port and its job opportunities through guided tours with Genoa Port Boat Center. The initiative is made from Genoa Port Center (GPC) of the Province of Genoa along with Project Youth Foundation Carige.

Il ministero della Marina mercantile: atto di rinascita o epitaffio dello shipping nazionale?
Di tanto in tanto qualche politico propone di risuscitare il ministero della Marina mercantile, o - come Repetto - di crearne uno similare, per dare così voce ad un comparto che, evidentemente, altrimenti è afono, incapace di farsi sentire e ascoltare. Senza un dicastero - così sembra - lo shipping nazionale non è influente né rappresentato.
Sappiamo bene che una parte dei nostri lettori ritiene utile l'istituzione di un dipartimento governativo specifico per il settore marittimo. Siamo altrettanto consapevoli dell'apprezzamento generalmente riscosso dalle opinioni dei redattori e degli editorialisti che rispecchiano quelle di chi legge.
Oggi non occupiamo spazio per spiegare le diverse ragioni che ci inducono a scongiurare la rinascita di un dicastero con funzioni che in tutte le nazioni avanzate attualmente ricadono propriamente in quelle del ministero dei Trasporti. Ci sembra sufficiente rilevare che in un momento drammatico come quello attraversato da molte economie mondiali e, in particolare da quella italiana, sia inopportuno (meglio: irresponsabile) creare un nuovo ministero i cui incarichi, evidentemente, si incrocerebbero e sovrapporrebbero inevitabilmente con quelli del ministero dei Trasporti.
Non è necessario un ministero per indicare una rotta alla nave dell'economia italiana. È sufficiente una classe imprenditoriale che sia in grado di suggerire, affiancare, condizionare e, se necessario, frenare l'azione di un ministro, qualunque sia il ministero al quale appartiene.
Il ministero del mare non è la panacea che guarirà i mali dell'economia italiana, nemmeno di quella marittima. Graecia docet.

This is an experimental activity started with the aim of offering children the opportunity to meet and deepen the opportunities offered by the port of Genoa and its supply chain, a world still little known by young people and often their families, even with a view to make a conscious choice school. As part of "The chain of the port" Port Genoa Center has launched a collaboration with the Elderly Project "Age of Freedom" Foundation Carige: boys will be able to integrate educational activities with a special visit to the headquarters of one of the operators port accompanied by a former docker, who will lead them to a comparison of the occupations of today and yesterday.
During the presentation the President of the Province of Genoa has supported the need to create a department to enhance the economic resources of the sea."The sea - said Alessandro Repetto - is a major economic resource, and this would be appropriate that there was a ministry dedicated to the economy of the sea, as once was the Merchant Marine Ministry."
