Corsica Sardinia Ferries starts a program of reduction of the bound together environmental impact to a reforestation project



Corsica Sardinia Ferries has defined a project of reforestation in Brazil in order to compensate the produced emissions of co2 from the fleet. The objective is also to involve the passengers in the purchase of certificates greens for this initiative, than tip to fight global warming.

The navigation company has made to also write up a budget co2 from the specialistic society Projet di Tristan Lecomte who has proposed a more respectful modality of transport of the atmosphere through the compensation of the co2, with the project of reforestation in Brazil. Also Projet, in fact, around him collects enterprises and structures that intend to fight against global warming, through projects of reforestation and conservation of the tropical forest.

The budget has evidenced that in the 2010 activity of transport of Corsica Sardinia Ferries they have totaled 572,700 tons of co2, of which 94% they are tied to the 4%, fuel burnup to the construction of 10 ships and 2% to the cooling fluid.

The emissions for draft are analyzed also, from which it turns out that, for example, for the draft Livorno-Gulf Oranges three passengers who travel with an car they produce 50 kilograms of co2 and a passenger on foot produces 15 kilograms of co2, while a passenger in flight from Pisa to Olbia produces 57 kilograms of co2.

With the project Corsica Sardinia Ferries it is engaged in the reduction of the environmental impact, with the definition of objectives for the decrease of the fuel burnup on the main drafts, in the compensation of the co2 produced, planting trees in durable systems of sour foresteria and conservation of little ones plots of ground of primary tropical forest, and in the continuous and diversified communication on board of the ships, in order to raise awareness the passengers, the crew and the partner to the respect of the atmosphere.

The project, called "Corsica Ferries Forest", it previews also the participation of the passengers of the company. In particular Corsica Sardinia Ferries proposes the passengers to compensate the co2 produced acquiring a certificate co2 connected to their way, while for its part the company is engaged to make to plant of the trees inside a zone very delimited of the Amazonia, in the State of Acrid where the community indios of Kuntanawa is present, people to risk extinction. The reforestation will regard is native trees that they give I yield, comprised in the agricultural plots of ground; in this way besides the biodiversity the cultural community will support itself also. The company has emphasized that draft of a credible and traceable project: although to risk, the state of Acrid is still little deforestato and already 5,000 trees are planted and Corsica Sardinia Ferries intends to plant of others 10.000.

The certificate co2 will on foot have a cost of 0,20 euros for a passenger or in bike, of 1,00 euros for a passenger in car, of 1,28 fleeting euros/for two passengers in car, of 0,92 fleeting euros/for three passengers in car and of 0,75/passeggero for four passengers in car. Situated Sul of the company will be given precise indications so that every owner of certificate can visit own plot of ground on Google Earth.
