Wärtsilä has recorded clearly an improvement of the economic results in the second half of 2012



The group Wärtsilä Corporation has closed exercise 2012 with an emphasized improvement of the economic results determined from the increase recorded in the second half of the year. The volume of transactions is increased of 12.3% attesting itself to 4,7 billion euros regarding 4,2 billion euros in 2011. The operating result is piled to 515 million euros (+9.6%) and the profit before taxes to 452 million euros (+5.1%).

Last year the Finnish group has obtained new orders for a total value of 4.940 million euros, in increase of 9.3% on 2011, and the value of the orderbook on 31 December is gone up to 4.492 million euros regarding 4007 million euros on December 31, 2011. In the single segment of the naval propulsion, the group has confiscated new orders for 1.453 million euros (+45.4%) and the division has concluded 2012 with a orderbook of the value of 2.127 million euros (+26.3%).

In the solo fourth trimester of the 2012 Wärtsilä group has totaled a turnover clearly of 1.533 million euros, in increase of 23.8% regarding the last trimester of 2011. The operating result is piled to 186 million euros (+28.3%) and the profit before taxes to 161 million euros (+22.9%). In the period October-December last year the Finnish group has acquired new orders for 1.357 million euros (+8.6%), of which 339 million euros in the field of naval propulsion (+4.6%). In the last trimester of the 2012 group it has recorded 199 relative contracts to new ships (1,090 ships in the entire 2012, with a +35% on 2011).

The president and managing director of Wärtsilä, Björn Rosengren, have declared satisfaction for the results achieved from the company in 2012, "a year - he has emphasized - characterized from difficult conditions of the total economy" and a year in which the Finnish group the most important acquisition never realized from Wärtsilä has bought the British Hamworthy carrying out ( on November 22, 2011 and 9 January 2012).

For the exercise the 2013 group previews to clearly record an increase of the turnover between the zero and 10%: "looking to the 2013 - Rosengren has explained - continuous economic situation to being uncertain.
