In the 2012 economic results of the shipowning society German Hapag-Lloyd has an emphasized deterioration quickly and the exercise anniversary has been archived item with a net loss of -128,3 million euros respect to a net loss of -28,8 million euros in a 2011 although increase of the 12.1% of the revenues that have been attested to 6,84 billion euros regarding 6,10 billion euros in 2011. The EBITDA and the EBIT of the 2012 have piled respective to 334,5 million and 2,5 million euros against an EBITDA and a EBIT of 367,1 million and 80,1 million euros in 2011.

"Although the difficult economic context - it has found the managing director of Hapag-Lloyd, Michael Behrendt - we have been able to generate positive an operating result, so like in 2011. Even if this means that we have obtained good results regarding the remainder of the field, the results have not matched up of our expectations and they are not satisfactory. Our objective for the exercise in course - it has added - is that to obtain a determined increase of the results with the aid of already announced increases of the hires and with an ulterior cost reduction to the aim to be able to distribute a dividend newly".

Last year the fleet of portacontainer of the German company has transported volumes of cargo pairs to a total of 5.255.000 container teu, with a progression of 1.1% on 2011, recording a medium hire for container teu pairs to 1.581 dollars (+3.2%). On the routes ocean-going liners 1.136.000 teu (- 2.2%) and the relative medium hire have been pairs to 1.748 dollars (- 1.5% are transported); the transpacifiche routes have totaled a volume of 1.199.000 teu (+4.9%) with a medium hire of 1.913 dollars (+11.2%), the routes with the Latin America a volume of 1.171.000 teu (- 0.4%) with a medium hire of 1.444 dollars (+6.0%), the routes with the Far East a volume of 1.144.000 teu (+1.0%) with a medium hire of 1.343 dollars (- 2.0%) and the routes with Australia and Oceania a volume of 605.000 teu (+3.6%) with a medium hire of 1.326 dollars (- 0.7%).

Last year the dependent number of the Hapag-Lloyd group has grown of 77 units going up to 6.950 people at the end of 2012, of which 1,245 boarded ones on the ships of fleet (1,198 in 2011), 5,505 employees to earth (5,465) and 200 apprentices (210). The consistency of the fleet of the company is diminished to 144 portacontainer for a total cargo ability pairs to approximately 670.000 teu regarding 149 ships for an ability to 679.000 teu to 31 December 2011. Currently the orderbook of the company it is constituted by six ships of the unitary ability to 13.200 teu, of which three in delivery in the first half of the 2013.
