the Harbour Authority of Livorno will manage the Old Fortress until end 2015



Today the president of the Harbour Authority of Livorno, Giuliano Gallanti, in charge of the territorial services of the Agency of the Federal property, Michele Baronti, and the vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of Livorno, Anna Landini, the new action of concession has undersigned through which the Old Fortress of Livorno it will continue to being managed from the Leighorn harbour agency until on December 31, 2015.

The mediceo complex will be used by the Harbour Authority exclusively for cultural and tourist scopes. "We will on hand put the Fortress - Gallanti has explained - of the citizenship. It could be used free of charge for the organization of events not-for-profit and clients from the Harbour Authority of Livorno, while for those to payment we will withhold from the price of the ticket a percentage of 2% for the Ngos and 10% for the enterprises, for a reason or purpose of contribution for expenses of maintenance and preparation".

The concession is daughter of a stipulated protocol of understanding 11 April of 2013 between the Chamber of Commerce, the Municipality of Livorno, the Federal property and the Harbour Authority whose main objective was that to put again in function the fortification erected in 1590. Then, to July of 2013, the signature of the first contract of concession has arrived with which the management for a year of the fortalice is entrusted to the harbour authority. "From August 2013 today - the general secretary of the harbour agency has remembered, Massimo Provinciali - besides the guided tours and not, we inside have organized of the Fortress eight concerts, 11 conventions and presentations of books, six press conferences, three exhibitions and six events, between which Benvenuto al Dalai Lama, the Spring of Science and the Festivity of the Peace. In short, we have not remained with the hands in hand, indeed we have valued the monumental complex spending for its maintenance more than 250 thousand euros, with full satisfaction of the conceding agencies".

For the next months, Gallanti has specified that the agency has already received many demands for reservation from today until on 31 July, "and - it has added - we will not stop ourselves here: soon, with the Municipality, we will estimate the hypothesis to realize a study in order to bring back to its original prestige not only the Old Fortress, but also that New and the system of the channels of the Venice. The idea is not set at all to hold a competition of ideas who puts to budget the cultural and architectonic potentialities of this city".
