Beyond 22 million euros in order to improve railway accessibility of the port of Ravenna



Today Maurizio Gentile, managing director of Italian Railway Net (RFI), Stefano Bonaccini, president of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Fabrizio Matteucci, mayor of Ravenna, and Galliano Di Marco, president of the Harbour Authority of Ravenna, has undersigned the implementing protocol in order to improve railway accessibility to the port of Ravenna with infrastructural participations that will be realized by RFI, with the objective to increase to traffic ability goods from and for the harbour port of call, to improve the connection to the trans-European infrastructural net IT TRY and to the European railway corridors and to return more fluid the railway circulation.

The infrastructural participations preview the extension of the railway tracing of the connection in Candiano right until the area of the new container terminal, to realize in the Trattaroli peninsula, the abolition of the passage at the level of via Molinetto Channel and the realization of the carrabile underpass, the lengthening of the current pedestrian underpass of station in order to return passing it, with escape in proximity of the head of the channel Candiano, and the adaptation to the shape of cavalcaferrovia "the Teodorico" in order to allow the passage of the trains loaded with container of great dimensions (High Cube), of the seed-towings and the so-called "travelling Freeway" (Tir until four meters of height, complete of engine and towing, loaded on special wagons goods).

The total investment will pile to about 22,6 million euros, of which 11,5 million by Italian Railway Net, 100 thousand euros by the Municipality of Ravenna and six million euro from the Harbour Authority of Ravenna. To the European Union a contribution of 30% will be demanded.

For the extension of the railway tracing of the connection in right Candiano RFI it will deliver the definitive and executive project within september 2015, with financing by the Harbour Authority. Moreover for the abolition of the passage at the level of via Molinetto Channel and the realization of the carrabile underpass Italian Railway Net will introduce the definitive project within 2016, in due time for the demand to the European Union of the financing pairs to 30% of the total costs (about 15 million euros), of which about the third part at the expense of RFI.

For the lengthening of the pedestrian underpass of station Italian Railway Net it will begin the work after the authorizations of the Municipality of Ravenna and Harbour Autorità. It will agree times and modality of the participations with the municipal administration, in order to diminish impacts and uneasiness to the street practicability. For the adaptation of the shape of cavalcaferrovia "Teodorico" RFI it will agree times and modality of the work with the Municipality of Ravenna, retrieved the necessary resources. The estimated cost is of about five million euro.
