Confitarma denunciation the danger of a reduction of beyond 80% of the tonnage of flag



The Italian Confederation Shipping (Confitarma) is worried that two amendments introduced by Roberto Cociancich, reporter of the bill AS 2228 (European Law 2015) in argument to XIV the Commission of the Senate, put in danger the existence of the fleet and the national crews and force the companies to the offshoring. Confitarma has explained that the amendments are thesis to limit the benefits of the international Registry to the sun ships that they embark in via exclusive right Italian or communitarian crews.

According to the shipowning confederation, if the two amendments had to be received in the course of the argument of the bill on the dispositions for the implementation of the obligations deriving from the belongings of Italy to the previewed European Union in order today, "all the Italian shipowners that carry out international traffics and traffics compounds, in order to face the competition - it has emphasized Confitarma - would be found forced to not quite enroll own ships in other communitarian registries without some tie for the nationality of the crews, if (and this is the more probable hypothesis) to delocalizzare own companies". For Confitarma, the risk is that they remain in Italy "the sun companies that carry out cabotage traffics exclusively and those of the services in concession".

"The tie of the nationality of the crews tax from the amendments - it has found the Confederation - would turn out difficult to respect also because an adapted Italian offer in particular for general staffs (official does not exist of covered and plots) and therefore the exodus would turn out a necessity in order to fit out the ships and to compete on the international markets. All would get lost therefore the Italian marine occupation today employed on such traffics beyond that to earth and in the induced one.

"Practically - it has evidenced Confitarma - these amendments instead achieving a greater occupation, would carry to an opposite result. In synthesis: the loss of beyond job 13.000 places that interests about 20.000 marine communitarian Italians and; the loss of beyond 500 ships (bulkcarrier, reserviors, cruise ships, unit ro-ro, ferries, portacontenitori, offshore unit)". This, according to Confitarma, would cause "a reduction of beyond 80% of the tonnage of flag".
