Messina announces a generalized rise of the hires, the only one seriates measure - the Italian company explains



The company of Italian navigation Ignazio Messina & C. has announced today an adaptation of the hires having explained that the generalized rise of the rates is decided "in the belief that this represents the only one seriates measure in order to re-balance the market, in waited for that the strategies of more and more pushed reduction of the costs can produce concrete effects". The Messina group has specified moreover that "a review of the policies on the hires is decided in consideration of the constant deterioration of the world-wide market of the transport container and the strong and clear sign launch to all the community of the shipping from the Hanjin case".

For the genoese company, in fact, "the case of the Hanjin is exemplary of the situation of the market of the containerized field that is living in absolute its worse moment from the beginning (August 2008) of the crisis international economic-financial institution: characterized field, yes, from great indebtedness, necessary but in order to strongly grow and to renew the fleet in an industry intensive Capital - it has emphasized the Messina - but above all characterized from the fall to peak of the hires beginning from spring 2015 and that it seems not to have an end. The huge losses recorded from all the main companies of navigation still in these last months, some of which also advanced in absolute value to those of the same Hanjin, they supply the confirmation of a carried out point of: that is that it is not more possible to go ahead without an participation on the hires and therefore on the front of the revenues".

The company has evidenced that "the construction of ships always greater ability, with the arduous hope of being able to always take advantage of puts up economies of scale, tied to the generalized slow down of the international economy, has pushed the marine hires to indefensible levels for any shipowner, not only on the routes where the ships from 18/20.000 teu are employed of ability, but to level generalized on all the marine routes. Levels of hire in some cases negatives (are covered single the expenses of boarding/disembarkation and/or the accessory expenses); the cost of the bunker increased more of 80% from the beginning of the year; the international commerce tinning; the decrease of the investments, species in great infrastructures, of the economies that melt own entrances on the Oil & Gas; the associate-political crisis of some Countries of the Africa North and the Middle East - it has observed the Messina - imposes more and more aggressive strategies of cost reduction that, even if not completely resolutive, every company of navigation is getting ahead by now from numerous years".

The General Rate Increase (GRI) announced from the company regard some services of line. In particular, by the departure of the next 1° October of the Jolly Diamante ship from Genoa an increase of 450dollari/teu will be applied from the ports of West Med (Barcelona, Castellon, Marseilles, Genoa and Salerno) for the ports of Mombasa, To give Es Salaam and Mogadishu; for the same ports of destiny, from Portugal (Leixoes and Setubal) the increase will be of 250 dollars/teu.

Moreover on the trade from the South Africa to the East Africa, beginning from the departure of the Jolly Cristallo previewed from Durban on 16 October the increase of the hires will be of 300 dollars/teu.

At last, beginning from travel 445 from Jolly Vanadio, currently in course with navigation from Salerno to Port Saïd, will be introduced an increase of 300 dollars/teu from the ports of the Arabo Gulf and India/Pakistan for the ports of West Africa, while for all the destinations of West Africa from the ports of West Med, East Med and Nord Africa the increase will be of 450 dollars/teu from the departure from Genoa on 10 October of the Corcovado ship.

The Messina group has specified that in the next few days they will be announced of the hire increases also for services that they connect the ports of West Med to those of the Red Sea, Gulf Arabo and India/Pakistan.
