Launch the TransLogMED project in order to promote the efficiency of the logistic services and transport in the euro-Mediterranean area



The Union pour the Méditerranée (UpM), the intergovernmental institution that reunites 28 States of the European Union and 15 of southern the Mediterranean and oriental, has launch the regional project TransLogMED whom the scope has to promote regional integration and a section of the euro-Mediterranean transports and the more efficient logistics being favored sustainable logistic chains in the field of the transports, of the logistics door to door and of the intermodal solutions and the improvement of the competences of the ports, the logistic operators and the authorities of transport through programs of formation and networking. The objective of TransLogMED is that to contribute to the development of a efficient, interoperabili and sustainable infrastructure net of transport in the euro-Mediterranean region.

The project, that it is realized by the European Escola - Intermodal Transport of Barcelona and has a budget of 1,5 million euros, has been launch in occasion of the first Mediterranean conference on the marine transports and the logistics that have held the 8 and on 9 May to Ismaïlia past, in Egypt. In the course of the encounter it is evidenced that about 30% of world-wide the international containerized trade it passes through the Mediterranean and that almost 25% of this total traffic are constituted by intra-Mediterranean marine commerce. To such care it is emphasized as a region better integrated is essential in order to take advantage of this potential one in order to strengthen the inclusive increase, the creation of places of work and the well-being.

The project, of the duration five-year-old, promuoverà sustainable multimodali solutions door-to-door by means of the performance of programs of formation and turned transfer of the acquaintance to beyond thousand professionals of the field of the transports and the logistics in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Italy, Morocco, Spain and Tunisia. Some activities of the project already have been under way in the ports of Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Genoa, Tanger Med and Rades and soon will be extended to the ports of Nador, Sfax, Mostaganem, Alexandria, Damietta, Port Saïd and Aqaba.

"Today more than ever - it has found ambassador Ihab Fahmy, added general secretary of the UpM, in occasion of the presentation of the project - the Mediterranean context demands the mobilization of all the actors in order to promote success cases together and to put into effect a concrete program for the euro-Mediterranean area being capitalized of important the potential economic human and made unusable in order to effectively face the multidimensional challenges of the region. The region has an enormous potentiality in order to reach a advanced level of marine commercial integration between the two sides, also promuovendo the intermodalità in order to obtain services of more efficient and sustainable transport and logistics. Improvements of the commercial exchanges and infrastructures of transport in our region - it has observed Fahmy - could be translate in an increase of 3.6% of the regional commerce and 6.5% of the exports. The promotion of projects of development of the abilities in this field, as for example TransLogMED, is a key factor in order to assure an inclusive increase, the occupation and intelligent mobility".
