The port of Ancona introduces technological innovations for the traffic of the ferries



The Authority of Harbour System of Mare Adriatico Centrale has illustrated the scopes of the project "SMART-C, Port of call MARotti virTual Corridor" that it has obtained in recent days a co-financing of 542 thousand euros in the within of ban CEF Transport 2018(on 27 March 2019). The project, which got ahead from the AdSP of central Mare Adriatico with the Agency of Customs and Monopolies (Office of Ancona and Interregional Direzione Emilia Romagna and Marche) and from the Provincial Command of the Customs corps, is started in May 2018 and is currently in the test phase of an innovative system of artificial intelligence for tracking in real time of the traffic goods in boarding and disembarkation in the port of Ancona carried from the ferries of the freeways of the sea that carry out connections with Greece, Croatia and Albania.

Thanks to the computerized dialogue with the computer science operators of the port and the other systems publics - the AdSP has explained - the system recognizes in advance which means must carry out the customs formalities allowing a constant control and the automated verification of the corrected one covered inside of the port of call, all without the need of the human control. "Of norm - the general secretary of the Authority of Harbour System has remembered, Matteo Paroli - the means that must carry out customs, before being able to leave the port must carry out practical the customs ones that authorizes the import or the export. These practical can be completed alone with means in pause in a customs zone connected to the docks of the ferries. Thanks to this system of control in real time - it has emphasized Paroli - it becomes possible to use external logistic areas to the port. In our experimentation, this has allowed to move the customs parking from the Pier Raises, in the area of the Ancient Port, to the port of call Marotti, recently acquired intermodal terminal from the AdSP. All without having to in transit install some device on means, element of strong innovation regarding the precedence experiences in the national ports".
