Ok of the Croatian government to the public support for the restart of the activity of ship yard 3. Maj



Yesterday the Croatian government, on proposal of the minister of the Economy Darko Horvat, has received the demand for the naval shipbuilding society of 3. Maj Shipyard of the Uljanik group to obtain necessary the public support to the restart of the activity of the navalmeccanico plant of River. In particular, the Council of Ministers has deliberated the availability of the government to participate to the process of release of state guarantees in order to allow the release of the checking accounts of the company, in order to reactivate the production and in order to complete the work of construction of ships that were suspended.

Remembering that 3. Maj has completed the process of restructure at the end of 2017 in compliance with the norms on the restructure of the enterprises in difficulty, the Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has explained that, "with the exception of Uljanik, 3. Maj is not a become indebted society and if not there were the loans regarding the Uljanik, it could operate normally because she is the current purchasers that those potential ones have expressed interest and availability to the completion of the ships and is interest also to construct some of new".

The governmental deliberation charges moreover the Ministry of the Economy to lead, in collaboration with the shipbuilding society of naval Jadranbrod, a groundbreaking analysis of the measures proposed from 3. Maj and, on the base of this examination, within next 29 August the Ministry will propose to the government the adoption of measures and sets in action consistent to the Croatian legislation and the regulations of the European Union.

"With this initiative - it has continued Horvat - we mainly intend to reduce the burdens at the expense of the budget of the State, to promote the prosecuzione of the production, to allow with the administration to begin the process of search of a strategic partner of quality, being created so all the necessary conditions so that in future the yard of Rijeka can operate pure on market principles, without the involvement of the State".

The decision of the government to support ship yard 3. Maj has induced the commercial court of River to postpone to next the 26 september the audience for the start of the procedure of failure of the society that would be due to carry out yesterday.
