In the first quarter of this year the river ports on the Rhine of Switzerland handled 1.16 million tonnes, with a decrease of -7.8% on the same period of 2021. The bending is was mainly determined by the decrease of -28.5% of products oil, down to 400 thousand tons. Products are also declining food with 114 thousand tons (-9.%), the volumes of iron, steel and non-ferrous materials with 72 thousand tons (-14.0%) and fertilizers with 22 thousand tons (-26.2%). Growing, however, stones, earth and building materials with 222 thousand tons (+6.7%), vehicles and machinery with 115 thousand tons (+27.9%), agricultural products with 77 thousand tons (+74.5%), minerals and metal waste with 50 thousand tons (+32.9%) and products chemicals with 49 thousand tons (+7.7%). Freight traffic in containers, in terms of 20-foot containers, was equal to almost 37 thousand teu (+31.1%).
