Greater administrative and financial autonomy, among the requests of the Italian Port System Authorities

"Of course it is - continued Giampieri - that we are there faced with a reality that probably had been Underestimated. The relocation of activities has created, in the most intense and difficult moments, problems in the procurement of certain raw materials and this has led companies to re-evaluate their commercial choices previous, creating the phenomenon we call near-shoring and re-shoring (I prefer to say; the shortening of the chain logistics). The Mediterranean is back at the center of the routes and, in this perspective, Italy becomes strategic, both by destiny geographical than for reaction capacity. For this reason, today we need more than ever vision and courage in the choices to make carry out to take advantage of the opportunities you are experiencing creating".

The president of Assoporti also focused on the theme taxation of the Italian Port System Authorities imposed by the EU ( of 4 December 2020). "As is well known - Giampiero recalled - the AdSP coordinated by Assoporti, have filed an appeal against the decision of the European Commission on the taxation of activities in ports, considered to be activities of nature economic. On this subject I do not want to enter into technicality legal, but I would like to say that Assoporti is convincingly in first line with all the AdSP, hoping that a solution will be found that takes into account the peculiarities of the sector, and that avoids weaken a strategic sector of modern Italian logistics».

Giampieri then returned to the request for a greater autonomy for the Port System Authorities: "every day - he highlighted - the AdSP are at the forefront, in an active administration, operating in a deep and fast change. We must give answers, facilitate relationships and investments and enforcement, all with the aim of creating the best conditions for the economic growth of the country. And it is for this reason it would be appropriate to rediscover a fundamental value, founding principle of the Port Authorities before, of the AdSP now: greater administrative autonomy and greater autonomy financial to give quick answers to the needs of undertakings'.

The President also spoke about the funds for ports under the of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan: "in favour of ports, logistics and maritime transport - he specified - between PNRR and Complementary Fund, about four billion are planned for interventions for the modernization and strengthening of the infrastructure, the implementation of the National Cold Plan ironing, energy efficiency, and to facilitate intermodality with the construction of the last mile railway. All this gives us hope because we see these investments and the objectives that are part of them as a legacy (legacy would say the British) for future generations».
