The ten-day strike of the workers of the ports of Livorno, Piombino and Elba starts

From today to 20 September the workers of the port system Livorno will strike every day for two hours and in this period two assemblies will be organized: the first scheduled this morning and the second on 20 September. On 21 and 22 September the strike instead, it will cover the entire working day. Also on the 22nd September, in Piazza del Luogo Pio in Livorno, there will be a event from 10 am to 12 pm.

The unions have made it clear that, however, the confrontation is not unsuccessful state: representatives of the business world and the Port System Authority - Giuseppe clarified Gucciardo (Filt Cgil), Dino Keszei (Fit Cisl) and Gianluca Vianello (Uiltrasporti) - "they have shown that they have become aware of the critical issues illustrated by the trade unions". Thanking the punctual and valuable work of the AdSP in trying to recompose the controversies, Gucciardo, Keszei and Vianello have however specified that the promises of dialogue advanced by the world of businesses are not enough and facts are needed.

"The concrete answers that the workers in issue of safety, health and salary - complained Gucciardo, Keszei and Vianello - there have not been and therefore we will proceed with the mobilization announced in recent weeks. We care emphasize that no "war" is taking place against the business world: the dockers are simply and legitimately claiming what is due to them. Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl and Uiltrasporti therefore declare themselves available, also during these days of strike, to sit again at a table to resume the dialogue».

The president of the AdSP of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea, Luciano Warriors, expressed bitterness for the position of rupture taken from the unions: "I believe thanks to our work of intermediation and proposals received from associations employers - he noted - the workers had already reached a positive result, with ample scope for starting a develop quickly. In these days they had been made huge steps forward in the issues of protection and of the organization of work in port as never before until now, and we hope it has not been lost time".

'Beyond the objections expressed by the party employer on the method of industrial relations chosen by the trade unions - continued Guerrieri - the demands of the workers have provided a positive stimulus to inaugurate a new season of confrontation between the parties, on the basis of the flood sharing a twofold common interest: balancing the needs of operational continuity of the ports with those of quality and reshaping of the world of work».

"If the negotiations had not been interrupted -- he said Warriors - maybe we could have started immediately with greater guarantee of result in work for which we were standing arguing for some time' Nevertheless - he concluded - "The Authority will continue to make every effort so that the dialogue started and unfortunately interrupted this morning can still be reactivated in the awareness of the protection of the general interests of the port community, workers and all production activities related to the port'.
