Agreement between the FSI and MSC groups to develop synergies in logistics

The agreement will serve in the first instance to verify the possibility and mutual interest in achieving a commercial and operational partnership project aimed at development of combined maritime transport. To concretize and to then make the memorandum operational with subsequent and specific agreements will be the companies of the LOGISTICS Hub of FSI, to start from the leader Mercitalia Logistics, and the companies of the MSC Group, including MEDWAY and MEDLOG which deal with rail transport and road transport respectively, intermodality and logistics. The two sides recalled that this cooperation, among other things, has already experienced and moved the first steps with the start in recent weeks of a collaboration in the port terminal of Gioia Tauro on the services of shunting and in rail transport between the same Gioia Tauro and the Interporto of Bologna.

In detail, the main areas where they will be verified and synergies can develop between the companies of the FSI group and of the MSC group are that of terminal management, national and European rear-port and inland management of the network of trains and intermodal rail services, which will be able to also take advantage of the sharing of specific assets, such as locomotives and wagons, for greater flexibility and quality, also in this case operating both in the market national and in the European one, now perceived as the new domestic market. Other area where they will be verified possible cooperation is that of tenders.

At the time of today's signing the FS Group was represented by the MANAGING DIRECTOR Luigi Ferraris and the Managing Director delegate of Mercitalia Logistics, Gianpiero Strisciuglio, and the MSC group was present with the group chairman Gianluigi Aponte and with Giuseppe Prudente, chief logistics officer of MSC and president of MEDLOG.

"The signing of this MoU with an international partner such as MSC - said Strisciuglio - strengthens the strategy of the Pole Logistics of the FS group as a system operator, consolidating the its presence along the logistics value chain and placing the center, on distances greater than 300/400 kilometers, transport railway.
