In the first half of 2022 the German group Eurokai, which manages port container terminals through investments in Eurogate (50% of the capital) and Contship Italia (66.6% plus the 16.7% held indirectly through Eurogate), recorded a further weakening of performance growth financial in place since the first half of last year in parallel with a decline in container traffic enlivened by its terminals, flow that in the first six months of the 2022 was slightly lower than that of the corresponding period of 2021.
In the first half of this year, in fact, the port terminals of the group have enlivened a total of 6.1 million teu, with a reduction of -2.2% on the same period of 2021 that is equal to -1.4% excluding the traffic enlivened in the port of Lisbon by LISCONT Operadores de Contentores, company from which the group left in November 2021 by selling the own 16.34% stake in Yilport of the Turkish group Yildirim.
The slight contraction in traffic totaled in the first half of 2022 originated mainly in the second quarter when the total traffic was 3.0 million teu, with a decrease of -4.0% on the same period last year that is equal to -3.1% excluding the traffic enlivened by the LISCONT in the period April-June of 2021.
In addition, the decline marked in the second quarter of 2022 is status generated by the significant decrease in volumes handled from the group's terminals in German ports and from the bending, less accentuated, of the volumes handled by the Italian terminals managed by the subsidiary Contship Italia. In particular, in the period April-June of this year traffic in Germany was of almost 1,8 million teu, with a decrease of -10,5% produced the reduction of containerized volumes managed by the terminals of the group in the ports of Bremerhaven (1.1 million teu, -12.0%), of Hamburg (506 thousand teu, -7.7%) and Wilhelmshaven (154 thousand teu, -8.4%). The Italian port terminals have enlivened overall 454 thousand teu (- 4.5%), of which 316 thousand enlivened in the port of La Spezia (-8.8), 77 thousand in the port of Salerno (-6.2%) and 61 thousand in that of Ravenna (+29.9%). Traffic in other foreign terminals of the group was equal to 766 thousand teu, with an increase of +15.9% produced by the increase of +28.9% in traffic handled in the Moroccan port of Tanger Med, which stood at 660 thousand teu, while the traffic enlivened in the Cypriot port of Limassol (104 thousand teu, -8.6%) and the enlivened one in the Russian port of Ust-Luga (2 thousand teu, -65.1%).
In the first half of this year the group's revenues are amounted to 131.1 million euros, with an increase of +11.8% on the first half of 2021. Operating profit was equal to 38.0 million euros (+26.1%) and net profit to 75.2 million of euros (+133.2%).
