In October 2023, freight traffic in Chinese ports grew by 8.1% percent on the same month last year as it amounted to 1.49 billion tonnes, of which 923.7 million tonnes were handled by seaports (+ 5.9%) and 567.0 million tonnes. of tons from inland ports (+ 11.8%). The only global traffic to and from abroad stood at 428.9 million tonnes (+ 9.0%), of which 382.6 million tonnes were passed through seaports (+ 9.1%) and 46.3 million tonnes through inland ports (+ 8.9%).
Last month, the largest volume of traffic was handled by the port of Ningbo-Zhoushan that totaled 111.4 million tonnes (+ 7.7%), including 48.9 million tonnes of international goods (+ 10.4%), followed by Tangshan ports with 69.5 million tonnes (+ 8.1%) of which 28.3 million tonnes from and for abroad (+ 17.8%), Shanghai with 63.3 million tonnes (+ 6.5%) including 34.6 million tonnes of international goods (+ 5.4%), Qingdao with 56.6 million tonnes (+ 3.3%) of which 40.3 million tonnes of international cargo (+ 4.1%), Guangzhou with 55.2 million tonnes (+ 2.3%) of which 13.2 million tonnes of international goods (+ 15.4%) and Rizhao with 51.6 millions of tonnes (+ 2.7%) including 31.1 million tonnes of international goods (+ 8.9%).
As of October 2023 alone container traffic handled by Chinese port airports amounted to 26.3 million teu (+ 2.9%), of which 23.0 million teu in seaports (+ 2.9%) and 3.3 million teu in inland ports (+ 3.1%). The main flow of containers passed through the ports of Shanghai (4.0 million teu, -4.5%), Ningbo-Zhoushan (2.9 million teu, + 14.4%), Qingdao (2.5 million teu, + 11.3%), Shenzhen (2.3 million teu, + 4.5%) and Guangzhou (2.2 million of teu, + 0.9%).
In the first ten months of this year, the total traffic in goods was 14.03 billion tonnes, with a 8.5% progression on the corresponding period of 2022, of which 9.01 billion tonnes in seaports (+ 7.3%) and 5.02 billion tonnes in internal ones (+ 10.7%). The total traffic from and for overseas was 4.20 billion tonnes (+ 10.0%), of which 3.77 billion tonnes handled by seaports (+ 10.0%) and 431.3 million tonnes from inland ports (+ 9.6%).
In the first ten months of 2023, the container traffic alone amounted to 257.0 million teu (+ 4.9%).
