Four more Belotti tyre-cranes (40 tons) for Riva-Ilva
The vehicles (total value order 1,55 million USD) will be used in Taranto steel-works
May 22, 2000
After three months of strong tests the Riva-Ilva group has shown its appreciating toward the tyre-crane for the moving and stocking of huge steel-coils created by Belotti Handling Spa ordering further four models (40 tons capacity each) for the steel-works in Taranto (I). In this order, for a total amount of 1,55 million USD, appears another innovative mobile crane for the moving and stocking of the tubes (Model TRITON/steel). This complete innovative vehicle find itself in net competition with the traditional fork-lifts, normally used for handling steel-pipes. The first vehicle was delivered to the Riva steel-industries in Genoa the last February).
The strategy of the new Belotti Handling management is to focus on a sector, the steel one, where big investments for the automation of the production processes have been done, but nothing has been found out yet in order to reduce the costs, rationalizing the moving of the goods at the very best. Actually, the revolutionary Belotti units have been put up in order to allow valid yard-saving room while stocking, as well as to earn a very speed handling. Furthers Belotti targets are: high-level technologic standards (on-board-software which co-ordinates the unit moving) and high safety (visibility, proof-tilting, slowing-down).
By the end of 1998 the Belotti company was in such a crisis that everyone thought it would have to cease its activity: the historic Genoa company had thought in the area of cointainers-handling from 1947, as well as in the world-wide ports sector.
Thanks to the intervention of the Milan Tarolla & Co. merchant Bank, specialized in the reorganization as well as in the saving of the companies in a bankrupted condition, Belotti is sector-leader again. This privilege is due to the utmost technology applied to each model of the Belotti products range , as well as to the innovation and the originality of the new models.
The Genoa company confirms that further new models are being completed, this time addressed to different sectors.
