The EFIP emphasizes the necessity of a multimodale approach to the performance of the corridors of the net TRIES



The European Federation of Inland Ports (EFIP) has introduced today own observations to the introduced proposal the slid autumn from the EU commission for the conformation of the European infrastructural net TRIES, that Network will be subdivided in "Core" and a "comprehensive Network" ( on 19 October 2011).

Also recognizing that for the first time European infrastructural politics are recognizing the role of the inland ports to the aims of the strengthening of the potential one and the ability to the multimodale transport, the association of the European internal ports has evidenced the necessity to clarify some points of the proposal of the Commission, than - second the EFIP - it can be still improved.

In particular, the EFIP considers that the configuration of the net TRIES introduced from the Commission is not complete in some areas. Moreover, second the association, the only reference in the proposal of the Commission to the state "Core" or "comprehensive" of the inland port are constituted by the present cartography in the attached one to the lines guide, in which the - it has explained the EFIP - internal ports in the primary net and that total one they are indicated with a slightly various symbol. "For reasons of transparency and clarity - it has specified the association - we ask comprehensive the Commission to place the directory inland ports publicly available by means of a publication on the website of the Commission. Moreover, for being coherent with the chosen approach for the ports and the Core airports, the Cores inland ports would have to be listed in attached the II of the lines guide of the proposal". For the EFIP it is necessary pure that he is clarified the presence and the role that the ports inland cover in the list of the pre-selected projects.

The association considers moreover that the proposal must be characterized totally from a multimodale approach, in particular regarding the quotas financing, the definitions, the performance and the governance of the multimodali corridors. "In the course of the performance - it has found the EFIP - it would have to be guaranteed a balanced development more of the transport modalities".

At last, second the EFIP, the relative projects to the inland ports and the inland waterways have today not been adequately representatives in politics of TRY neither in terms of budget neither in terms of planning. EFIP therefore has exhorted the European politicians to not only assure the previewed budget of 31,7 billion euros, but also to realize a "modal transfer" of the budget spold for the various modalities of transport in favor of the projects of the internal ports and the internal water ways.
