Merlon announces the withdrawal of own resignation from president of the Harbour Authority of Genoa



Luigi Merlo has decided to withdraw own resignation from president of the Harbour Authority of Genoa, but draft of a conditioned revocation and presumablly of temporary character. At the beginning last month Merlon had announced that irrevocably it would have left the charge on 30 June in consideration of the candidacy for the Party Democratic of the wife, Raffaella Paita, then city council member to Infrastructures of the Liguria Region, to the presidency of the regional agency. Merlon had specified to have "shared with minister Graziano Delrio the modalities and the date of resignation" and had explained that "the two months of advance payment allow with the local institutions and the government to activate the procedures of nomination for the successor, having put the port of Genoa to the shelter of an indeterminate commissariamento" ( on 4 May 2015). Receipt last week from the same minister of Infrastructures and the Transports the demand to reconsider the decision to discharge itself ( on 18 June 2015), Merlon has answered to Graziano Delrio thanking it "for the esteem expressions" and has announced to have determined, "after a careful consideration, to accept the demand conditionedly", "with the exclusive scope - it has specified - to avoid a phase of commissariamento, judged as a negative hypothesis from the institutions and the entire genoese harbour community".

Merlon has emphasized to have limitedly received the invitation of the government "to the necessary period to the passages legacies to the reform and the location of the candidate" to its substitution. Merlon has guaranteed also to minister Delrio "its maximum engagement in order to get ahead all the opened issues, beginning from the new town development plan" and has thanked the president of the Giovanni Toti Region, the mayor of Genoa, Marco Doria, and all the members of the Harbour Committee, "than - it has remembered - in recent days, manifesting confidence in its acts, had asked to it to remain to the guide of the Harbour Authority".
