    La direction du port de Zeebrugge fait régulièrement état depuis deux ans de la perspective d'un deuxième bassin à marée, qui permettrait d'utiliser les superficies encore inutilisées du vaste arrière-port et ceci pour des trafics short sea conditionnés par des dessertes portuaires rapides. De plus, le port côtier belge entend s'inscrire dans les trafics de cabotage intra-européens encore à développer. D'un récent entretien que nous eûmes avec la direction de la MBZ, il ressort que cette perspective d'un deuxième grand bassin à marée ne pourrait être réalisé qu'en 2008, ce qui à notre avis est trop éloigné dans le temps.

Or nous avons besoin du rail afin de faire face aux problèmes de capacité de transport et afin de pouvoir échapper aux problèmes de congestion".
