In the first quarter of 2011 the traffic of goods in the port of Le Havre has been a sharp decline having certificate (with the exception of supplies on board) to 15.39 million tonnes of freight, a decrease of 13.4% compared to 17 77 million tons handled in the first three months of last year (during which time the traffic had decreased by 7.5% over the first quarter of 2009).
The cargo amounted to a total of 4.87 million tons, down 16.8% over the first quarter of 2010. The only containerized cargo amounted to 4.53 million tonnes (-18.0%) and container handling in terms of unit 20 ', amounted to 486,000 TEUs (-14%).
In the field of liquid bulk traffic was 9.92 million tonnes (-10.7%), of which 6.53 million tons of crude oil (-7.2%), 2.79 million tonnes of products refined petroleum (-17.8%), 190 thousand tons of liquefied natural gas (-6.0%) and 406mila tons of other liquid bulk (-13.1%).
In the dry bulk sector of the total was 596mila tonnes (-26.4%), of which 219mila tons of coal (-57.2%), 208mila tons of building materials (+46.1%), 76 thousand tons cement (+16.1%) and 92 thousand tonnes of other dry bulk (+2.5%).
In the first three months of this year, imports through the port in France amounted to 11.71 million tonnes (-11.7%) and exports at 3.68 million tonnes (-18.5%).
The passenger traffic of ferries has been a total of over 27 thousand units (19.1%).
