In the first half of this year, intermodal traffic by river, rail and road from the bustling port of Duisburg was equal to 1.2 million TEUs, an increase of 10% over the first half.
Duisport, the company that manages the river port in Germany, stressed that the volume totaled in the first half of 2011 confirmed the growth trend recorded in 2010 that led last year to establish a new traffic record with a total of 2.25 million TEUs, a figure - took over the CEO duisport, Erich Staake - which may be exceeded in 2011 if this trend will continue in the second half.
