In the financial year 2010-11 (period 1 July 2010-30 June 2011) the port of Melbourne has established its new annual record of traffic being handled 79.7 million tons of goods (+5.8% over above) and your new record container traffic having scored a total of 2.39 million TEUs (+7.0%).
These records are also added those of the greater number of containers handled in a month, set last October with 217,000 TEUs, the highest number of containers filled by exports, recorded in March with 73,102 TEUs, and the increased number of containers filled in import and export handled the whole year, which amounted to 1.90 million TEUs (+5.3%). The empty container traffic amounted to 496,000 TEU (+14.0%).
In FY 2010-11 containerized traffic amounted to 22.1 million tonnes, of which 15.7 million tons in imports (+2.7%) and exports 6.4 million tonnes (+9, 3%).The bulk liquid were 5.2 million tonnes (+6.5%) and dry bulk cargo, 3.5 million tonnes (+13.2%).
