In May the traffic of the goods in the port of Barcelona has grown of +21.7%

In May 2022 in the miscellaneous goods sector alone, 4.77 million tons of cargo handled, with increases respectively of +17.8%, +60.8% and +5.8% on the months of May of 2021, 2020 and 2019, of which 3.62 million tons of goods containerized (respectively +20.5%, +60.7% and +10.0%) realized with a handling of containers equal to 333 thousand teu (+18.5%, +56.9% and +4.1%) - including 158 thousand in transit (+38.3%, +89.3% and +13.7%) and 175 thousand in import-export (+4.9%, +35.8% and -3.4%) - and 1.05 million tons of non-containerized goods (+9.3%, +61.2% and -6,5%). In the segment of car handling, traffic was 51 thousand cars (-5.9%, +259.1% and -34.8%).

In addition, the Spanish airport handled 1.25 million tons of liquid bulk (+26.2%, +42.8% and -22.9%), including 368 thousand tons of natural gas (+0.1%, +88.2% and -13.1%), 267 thousand tons of crude oil (+648.3%, +91.7% and -21.2%), 154 thousand tons of diesel (+35.9%, -44.7% and -34.4%), 131 thousand tons of biofuels (+46.5%, +271.7% and -44.9%), 125 thousand tons of petrol (-28.8%, +207.8% and -30.2%), 83 thousand tons of products chemicals (-8.7%, +3.1% and -1.5%), 63 thousand tons of oils and fats (-20.9%, -16.2 and -5.3%) and 29 thousand tons of fertilizers (+246.3%, +100.7% and +87.8%).

In the solid bulk sector, the total was 506 thousand tons (+55.5%, +42.2% and +121.0%), including 252 thousand tons of soybean beans (+121.5%, +70.7% and +117.0%), 97 thousand tons of scrap metal (+108.9%, +85.5% and +623.1%), 74 thousand tons of salt (+63.4%, +1,180.2%, traffic absent in May 2019), 69 thousand tons of cement and clinker (-16.3%, -36.2% and +225.0%) and 68 thousand tons of potash (+265.2%, +212.8% and +9.4%)

Finally, in the passenger sector, ferry traffic is state of 90 thousand people (+123.2%, +374.5% and -9.7%) and that of the cruises of 214 thousand people, cruise traffic that in May 2021 and 2020 was stopped and that in May 2019 had been 362 thousand cruise passengers.

In the first five months of 2022 the port of Barcelona has handled a total of 29.76 million tons of goods, with increases of +11.2%, +27.6% and +6.3% respectively on corresponding periods of 2021, 2020 and 2019. In the field of miscellaneous goods, containerized cargoes amounted to 16.22 million tons (+1.6%, +32.0% and +10.3%) with a container handling pairs to 1,51 million teu (+0.3%, +30.5% and +4.4%) and non-containerized ones at 4.70 million tons (+10.3%, +23.1% and -3.0%). Car handling is was 192 thousand vehicles (-18.6%, +2.3% and -44.5%). In the field of liquid bulk handled 6.82 million tons (+42.7%, +23.4% and +0.7%) and in dry bulk 2.01 million tons (+14.6%, +19.1% and +19.6%).

In the first five months of this year ferry passengers were 354 thousand (+126.3%, +92.5% and -19.6%) and cruise passengers 435 thousand, traffic absent in the same period of 2021 and equal to 199 thousand cruise passengers in the first five months of 2020 and 915 thousand cruise passengers in the first five months of 2019.
