With Ordinance No. 139 of 2026, the Port Authority of
Ravenna has established, on an experimental basis and in partial derogation from the
limits provided for by the current Regulations Approaches, that those who
operate in port quays with a maximum allowable draught
equal to 10.80 meters, may submit to the Technical Section,
Port Security and Defense of the Harbour Master's Office specific request for
authorization to dock (during the day and at favorable tide)
for ships with a maximum draft of up to 11.00 meters. All ships
with a draught greater than 10.80 meters they will have to carry out the maneuvers
entry/mooring using two pilots on board and adopting
any further prescription deemed appropriate
by the Maritime Authority.
The maximum maximum allowable draft of the vessels is
authorized by the Harbour Master's Office after the execution of the
dredging of the Candiano Canal of the port as part of the project
"Port Hub" of Ravenna and following the surveys
port bathymetry sent in recent days by the Italian Regulatory Authority
of the Port System of the Center-North Adriatic Sea and
of the positive outcome of the incoming manoeuvres of ships with maximum
draft of 10.80 meters.
Commenting on the provision of the Harbour Master's Office, the president
of the Port Authority, Francesco Benevolo, underlined that "the port
of Ravenna celebrates today, with the ordinance of the Harbour Master's Office
for the experimentation of the draft at minus 11 meters, a stage
fundamental for its economic and strategic development. Thanks to the
dredging and adaptation of the
docks envisaged by the first phase of the great project "Ravenna
Port Hub", in which the Port System Authority is
engaged for years - underlined Benevolo - can now have
I start this experimentation that allows our port to
to accommodate vessels of greater draught and with a capacity of
significantly higher load, responding concretely to the needs
global markets and modern logistics chains. This
extraordinary result is the result of constant commitment and
of the close collaboration between the Port System Authority
and the Port Authority, which has made it possible to overcome its complexities
always guaranteeing maximum navigation safety".
Benevolo recalled that the goal is to deepen
port seabed: "This milestone -
explained - motivates us even more to continue for the
reaching - 12.5 meters, a goal for which we will continue
to work, with the always active support of all the subjects
operating in our port, and in particular excellent services
nautical technicians. I thank you for this great shared commitment which,
Once again, it proves to be effective and today allows us to
celebrate a historic result for the port of Ravenna, first of all
Commander Tattoli, together with all the members of the
our port community".
