Il gruppo navalmeccanico Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) ha reso noti i dati relativi alla produzione avvenuta nel 2004 nei propri stabilimenti Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works, Kobe Shipyard & Machinery Works e Shimonoseki Shipyard & Machinery Works. I tre cantieri hanno completato 20 navi per complessivi 1,3 milioni di tonnellate di portata lorda, contro 17 navi per 645mila tpl nel 2003.
