Last month, the traffic of goods in the port of Genoa having increased by 2.3%, totaling 4,582,089 tons, compared with 4,477,564 tonnes in March 2010.
In the area of cargo traffic amounted to 2,378,232 tonnes (+4.7%), of which 1,625,557 tons of containerized goods (+6.3%) and 752,675 tonnes of conventional cargo (+1.3 %). The container handling in terms of box 20 feet amounted to 160,503 teu (+7.0%).
The dry bulk cargo traffic totaled 50,705 tons, down 58.3% compared to March 2010. Growing, however, the volume of dry bulk and steel industry moved in that amounted to 432,931 tonnes (+50.4%). Mineral oils amounted to 1,539,125 tonnes (-3.8%) and other bulk liquids to 77,549 tonnes (-20.9%).
Passenger traffic was 115,892 units (-9.1%), of which 66,729 passengers on scheduled services (-13.5%) and 49,163 cruise passengers (-2.2%).
In the first quarter of 2011 the port handled a total of 13,205,750 Genovese has tons of goods, with an increase of 8, 5% over the first three months of last year. The cargo was 6,671,043 tonnes (+9.7%), of which 4,621,544 tons of containerized cargo (+11.0%) and 2,049,499 tonnes of conventional cargo (+7.0%).
In the first three months of this year were 342,456 tons of solid bulk cargoes (-7.7%) in addition to 1,013,905 tons of dry bulk and steel industry (+37.8%). Mineral oils were 4,638,403 tonnes (+3.5%) and other liquid bulk 240,569 tonnes (+5.5%).
In the field of passengers during the first three months of 2011 have been stored with a traffic of 316,118 units (-3.9%), of which 199,675 ferry passengers (-3.9%) and 116,443 cruise passengers (-4.0%) .
