The second container terminal at the port of Dammam Saudi joint venture will be operated by Global Ports (SGP) established by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Saudi public financial agency for the development of the national economy, and the port group PSA International of Singapore .
The port of Dammam King Abdul Aziz is the largest seaport on the Gulf and Saudi Arabia last year handled a traffic of containers equal to 1,333,094 TEUs, an increase of 8, 6% compared to 2009. The new terminal concession awarded to the joint venture will have a line of SGP quay of 1,200 meters equipped with 12 quay cranes and will have an annual traffic capacity of 1.8 million TEUs.
The project for the construction of the terminal is the first investment in the port sector of the BIP as the first investment of PSA in the ports of Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf.
Recall that the container terminal currently operating in the port of Dammam is managed by the International Ports Services Co. (IPS), a joint venture between Hutchison Port Holdings Group (HPH) of Hong Kong and MACNO (The Maritime Company for Navigation) group Saudi Al Blaga.
