Next Wednesday in Rome, at the Hall of the Library of the National Council of Economy and Labour (CNEL), will host the eighth meeting of the National Freight Transportation and Logistics. During the morning we will present the research "The future of ports and port work" promoted by Isfort (Institute for Training and Research for Transport), involving the unions Filt-CGIL, CISL and Uiltrasporti-Fit, which is the result of surveys conducted in some Italian ports on the dock work and the prospects of the national port.
This is a thorough examination of the inner workings of some of the major Italian ports made at a time when the Italian port system through a phase complex aggravated by the consequences of global economic crisis. The negative consequences on trade and more employment - Isfort notes - are increasingly worrying: the fate of Gioia Tauro, involving over 400 employees and that of other major Italian landings from Trieste to Genoa, Naples, Livorno, La Spezia Bari, are of increasing concern. The survey took into consideration the situation of the ports of Ravenna, Trieste, Genoa, Naples and Gioia Tauro. What emerges - explains Isfort - a kind of Far West, a complex picture all the more necessary to take decisive and convincing solutions on the eve of the port reform that seems to have stalled in the halls of Parliament.
Flexibility and the dignity of labor, safety and productivity of the cycle, port, port work to the downsizing of the workforce and deregulated growth of professionals in the poor inland logistics platforms - says Isfort - outline a scenario fraught with problems and a harbinger of social unrest and economic threatened to undermine the already precarious Italian logistics system's efficiency, aggravating social and industrial charges. These themes will be the focus of the roundtable to be held during the meeting.
