In the second quarter of this year the group's net sales decreased 8 Wärtsilä Corporation, 4% to 1,036 million euros compared to 1,131 million euros in the same period of 2010. The operating result amounted to EUR 117 million (0%) and pre-tax profit to 108 million euros (-0.9%). During the period the company has forfeited new orders for 1,170 million euros (+4.7%).
The only segment of marine propulsion systems Wärtsilä has received new orders worth $ 306 million, an increase of 43.7% compared to 213 million euros in the period April to June of last year, and the value of ' Ship Power order book of the division at 30 June amounted to 1.753 billion euros, a decrease of 18.7% compared to 2.157 billion euros at June 30, 2010.

In the first six months of this year Wärtsilä has received new orders for 2,149 million euros (+7.6%) and the value of the backlog at June 30 stood at 3.779 billion euros, down by 12.4 % compared to 4.315 billion euros at June 30, 2010.
