In the first half of this year the port of Marseille has moved a total of about 44.6 million tons of goods, with a slight increase compared to 44.4 million tons in the first half of 2010.
The general cargo traffic amounted to 7.69 million tons (-7%). In one area of the containers were moved 462,781 TEUs (-9%). The dry bulk cargo totaled 4.7 million tons (-25%). Hydrocarbons totaled 30.46 million tonnes (+8%) and other bulk liquid chemical and food totaled 1.7 million tons (0%).
In the first six months of 2011 passenger traffic was 778,800 units (+2%).
In the second quarter of this year the traffic of goods in the French port was roughly comparable to the volume handled in the same period of 2010 having amounted to about 22.8 million tons.The general cargo totaled 4.2 million tons (-3%). The dry bulk cargo totaled 2.5 million tons (-29%). The traffic of oil was 15.2 million tonnes (+8%) and that of other bulk liquids was approximately 850 thousand tons (+2%).
