Today, the Marche Region, represented by the Transportation Louis Living, and the Port Authority of Ancona, represented by its chairman Luciano Canepa, signed a framework agreement which states that the sand dredged from the water surface in front of the new Commercial dock being completed in the port of Ancona is made of some portions of beach nourishment in the coastal towns of Ancona, Falconara and Senigallia.
The agreement stipulates that within 30 days of the two entities form a joint working group composed of officials and technicians who will carry out design activities and beach nourishment dredging of the intervention, in addition to the management and inspection of the work.
Regarding resources, the Port Authority will provide the financial backing of the intervention with the participation of other governments.The Region of Marche in the interest of beach nourishment will participate with the cost of own resources: By the year 2011 has allocated a shareholding of 450 thousand euros. The municipalities of Ancona, Senigallia and Falconara Marittima affected by the operations may require further action with respect to availability of funds provided by financing the increased costs from its own funds of the municipal budget.
The Region is also committed to involve, early on, the municipalities so that each of these contributes to supplement, if necessary and in proportion to the quantity of material to be used on the coast of competence, the finance operations of transport and nourishment, in order to pursue the economic and financial equilibrium of the entire project.
"Once again - said the councilor Living - collaboration between the Region and the Port Authority of objectives of common interest gives tangible results for both the port of Ancona for the territory. The construction of the quay is an opportunity not to be missed.To complete the work is indeed necessary to lower the seabed in front of it and this will ensure an availability of about 300 thousand cubic meters of sandy material and consequently the possibility of proceeding to the nourishment of various stretches of the coast. The project will expand the beaches and protect them from storms through the beneficial effects both from the standpoint of environment and tourism. "
