"In the second quarter of this year - said today the group's managing director of Dubai, Mohamed Sharaf - DP World has created a truly remarkable performance that produced a movement of more than 26 million containers during the first six months of the year , showing a better result than the market and reflects our positioning in the fast-growing emerging markets. We are particularly pleased to see that the UAE has reached another milestone in the handling of container volumes in the six months to obtain a record of 6.1 million TEUs handled. "
"The substantial volume of container logged in the first half of the year - continued Sharaf - lead to a significant improvement in profit after tax for the first half compared to the same period last year. Entering the second half of the year there are some uncertainties on the global economy that make it difficult to predict how they will develop global trade. Since this uncertainty is not yet reflected on our activities and as we are focused on the most dynamic emerging markets, we expect to continue for the full year results in line with expectations. "
