Panalpina improves the economic results



In the exercise anniversary the 2013 logistic group Helvetic Panalpina has improved own economic performances having had closed the year with a seven profit 11,7 million franchi clearly Swiss (million euro) respect to a net loss of -71,8 million franchi Swiss in 2012. The revenues are increased of +2% going up 6,76 billion franchi Swiss, of which 3,06 billion generated from air shipments operated by the group (- 2%), 2,78 billion from marine shipments (+6%) and 920 million from logistic other asset (+3%). The EBITDA is piled to 119,8 million franchi Swiss (+249%) and the Swiss EBIT has been of positive sign for 48,0 million franchi respect to operating liabilities of -39,6 million franchi Swiss in 2012.

The sensitive increase of the turnover generated from marine shipments is yields of the increment of the volumes: last year, in fact, Panalpina has realized shipments by sea for a total pairs almost 1,5 million container teu, with a progression of +8% on 2012. Also the volumes of air shipments, piled to 825 thousand tons, have recorded an increase of +3% that but has not been reflected on the revenues to cause - it has explained the Swiss group - of an increase of the rates culminated in particular in the period of peak season of the fourth trimester of the year.

The increase of the shipment volumes operated from the group has had its peak anniversary in the fourth trimester with a total of 219 thousand tons of goods for aerial way (+8% on the fourth trimester 2012) and of 385 thousand container teu for marine way (+11%).

In the solo fourth trimester of the 2013 Panalpina has totaled a net loss of -50,5 million franchi Swiss on Swiss revenues for 1,73 billion franchi respect to a net loss of -51,3 million franchi Swiss on Swiss revenues for 1,69 billion franchi in the last trimester of the year precedence. EBITDA and EBIT have been both of Swiss sign negative respective for -10,7 million and -45,1 million franchi against a Swiss EBITDA positive for 9,4 million franchi Swiss and EBIT negative for -32,4 million franchi in the period October-December of 2012.

Panalpina previews that this year the markets of the aerial transport and of the marine transport they will record increases respective of the +2-3% and of +4-5%. "In 2014 - the managing director of the logistic group has commented, Peter Ulber - we will concentrate ourselves on the stabilization of our results of the division Air Freight and on the improvement of the productivity and the operating margin in that Ocean Freight. For the Logistics division - it has added - the priority of the company is of a radical change of direction in the structures in loss. Moreover we will avoid to engage ability in the transport via earth and meanwhile we will develop services to added value. We see the Logistics field which important element of differentiation in order to complete our offer end-to-end".
