the council of Livorno has concluded the procedure of VAS for the approval of the Town development plan of the port



The municipal administration of Livorno has concluded the procedure of Strategic Environmental Appraisal on anticipatrice varying to the Structural Plan and Town-planning Regolamento for the approval of the Town development plan of the port of Livorno. This - the council has remembered - "confirmation the preliminary understanding of November 2013, understanding that sostanzia in the declaration of coherence of the town-planning instruments of the Municipality to the contained forecasts in the Portuale Town development plan, so as demanded from law 84/94 for the approval of the town development plans of the ports of national interest, which is Livorno" ( on 26 November 2013).

In the sitting yesterday the committee has deliberated to take note in environmental matters of the observations reached the Municipality of Livorno by the competent subjects, and next technical appraisals carried out by the offices, finding the necessity of ulterior deepenings, in the next phases, regarding following the problematic ones: quality of the air, emissions in atmosphere, acoustic impact, quality of internal waters and traffic induced of the previewed works, electromagnetic pollution, landscaped compatibility regarding on the coast pisano incidence. All this finding the conformity of the procedure carried out to the regional law of reference in matter of strategic environmental appraisal (LR 10/2010).

"This procedure - the alderman to the Atmosphere and Mobility has explained, Giovanni Gordiani - is a lot important in order to accompany the agreement of planning with Tuscany Region, Province of Livorno, Harbour Authority, and to guarantee the requirement of sustainable development in the planning. To this end the committee has emphasized the necessity to analyze and to deepen the impacts on the nature and biodiversity in the areas interested and contiguous to the port. All these elements of environmental quality will have to be held in consideration and will constitute given acquired for the WAY".

In the same sitting the committee has examined the 27 observations introduced on varying to the Structural Plan and the Town-planning Regulations in town-planning matter and controdedotto to the same ones.
