New record for the month of February of the cargo on the ships journeyed in the Suez Canal



Last month the cargo volume transported from the ships that have crossed the Suez Canal has reached the quota record for the month of February of 73,4 million tons, with an increment of +8.7% on February 2017 when the precedence was established record with 67,5 million tons. The new peak for this month is reached thanks to the new boarded cargo record on the ships journeyed in the channel from north to south that has been pairs to 39,3 million tons, with an increase of +10.0% regarding February 2017 when the maximum precedence of 35,7 million tons was marked. Last month the boarded cargo volume on the ships journeyed from south to north is piled to 34,1 million tons, with an increase of +7.1% on February 2017. Relatively to this last flow of traffic the record for the February month is obtained with 34,4 million tons in February 2008, year in which the volume of the goods north-south, previously constantly journeyed in the Suez Canal in the direction and considerably inferior to that journeyed in the opposite direction, has begun often to sopravanzare the total of the goods journeyed in the direction south-north.

Last month the cargos constituted from oil and producing oil that were boarded on the ships that have crossed the channel Egyptian in both senses are piled to 16,3 million tons (- 5.9% on the February 2017), of which 8,1 million boarded tons on the ships directed to south (- 12.4%) and 8,2 million tons on the ships directed to north (+1.6%). The single cargos constituted from crude oil have been attested 7,8 million to tons (+2.5%), of which 3,4 million on the ships directed to south (+52.4%) and 4,3 million on those directing to north (- 18.7%).

Last month the other boarded cargo types on the ships journeyed in both the directions have totaled 57,1 million tons (+13.7%), of which 31,2 million tons on the ships directed to south (+17.8%) and 25,9 million tons on the ships directed to north (+9.0%). The single containerized cargos are piled totally to 38,8 million tons (+9.1%), of which 19,5 million tons on the ships journeyed towards south (+8.4%) and 19,3 million tons on those journeyed towards north (+9.7%).

Altogether last month the channel is crossed by 1.319 ships (+2.6%), of which 329 tankers (- 3.8%) and 990 ships of other type (+4.9%) included 448 portacontainer (+10.6%), 229 to rinfusiere (+0.9%), 102 multipurpose ships (- 23.9%), 65 ships garage (+5.6%), 62 ships for natural gas which liquified (+67.6%) and 28 ships ro-ro (+12.0%).

In the first period of two months of the 2018 channel it is crossed by 2.724 ships, with a progression of +2.6% on the same period last year, of which 717 tankers (+2.1%) and 2,007 ships of other type (+2.8%). The ships transported a total of 147,8 million tons of goods (+7.3%), of which 73,9 million boarded tons on the units journeyed from north to south (+2.2%) and 73,9 million tons on the ships journeyed in opposite direction (+13.0%).
