Confitarma has introduced own Vademecum for computer science safety on board of the mercantile ships



The Italian Confederation Shipping (Confitarma) has realized an own "Vademecum for Computer science Safety (Cyber Security) on board of national the mercantile ships" that is defined in May 2018 by the working group "Operativity ship" examining international documents and banns on the topic of the cyber security in the marine field, in particular, documents already managed in matter from the British government and the main international organizations of reference: in the first instance BIMCO, besides CLIA, ICS, Intercargo, Intertanko, OCIMF and IUMI.

The document is illustrated today to Genoa by Valeria Novella, vice president of the Commission Oceanic Navigation of Confitarma, in the Maritime course of the session organized Security in the within of the Port & Shipping Tech. "Waiting for a norm or, at least of lines it guides municipalities of reference also to institutional level - it has explained Novel - we have considered opportune to give to our companies the greater number of possible information about the concrete connected dangers to accidental and intentional interferences in the computer science systems, species in those of edge".

The Vademecum contains a collection of suggestions, technical information, indications and precautionary on as on board managing computer science safety of the mercantile ships that can, in some way, being useful in order to prevent and to mitigate the risks and the threats of attacks computer science to which the world of the shipping it can be subordinate.

Referring to the documents in matter already published, Valeria Novella has specified that the working group of Confitarma "has adapted such documents to the enforced norm national, leaving from the ascertainment that did not exist, and does not exist still, on a national level lines reference guide, against the requirement of being able to supply to the associate companies elements and information that widened the knowledge of the computer science risks in order to allow they to put in existence at least first and basic organizational adaptations".

"He is obvious - it has concluded Novel - than, date the continuous evolution of the computer science threats, the initiatives up to now put in field and same produced documents are not exaustive and that it is necessary to hold constantly under observation how much happens it is at the level of events and it attacks computer science that every day we record that in the international and national normative adaptations. Therefore, it is not excluded that shortly we will proceed to the drawing up of an updated edition of our Vademecum".
