Wärtsilä records good results in the naval segment



The Finnish group Wärtsilä Corporation, that it develops systems for the generation of energy for the fields marine and terrestrial, has closed the second trimester of this year with a decrease of the -2% of the revenues that have attested to 1,22 billion euros regarding 1,25 billion euros in the period April-june of 2018. The operating profit is piled to 96 million euros (- 13%), the profit before taxes to 83 million euros (- 18%) and the profit clearly to 62 million euros (- 17%).

The bending of the results is generated essentially by the reduction of the activity in the Energy segment, that it is mainly centralized on the electric power plants, that has been partially balanced from the good Marine performances of the division. In the single naval field, in fact, the revenues are increased of +17% to 801 million euros, of which 409 million euros generated from services (+5%). The segment has recorded an operating profit of 61 million euros (+13%).

In according to trimester of the 2019 Finnish group it has acquired new orders for a total value of 1,38 billion euros (- 11%), included 936 million euros for the single division Marine (- 9%) of which 413 million relative to services (- 3%). Al 30 last June the orderbook of the group turned out pairs to 6,47 billion euros, with an increase of +10% on on June 30, 2018, of which 3,97 billion euros relative to segment Marine (+23%).

In the first semester of this year the Finnish group has totaled revenues pairs to 2,37 billion euros, in increase of +2% on the first half of 2018. The operating profit has been of 187 million euros (- 4%), the profit before taxes of 162 million euros (- 9%) and the profit clearly of 121 million euros (- 8%). In the single segment Marine the revenues have been pairs to 1,53 billion euros (+18%) and the operating profit to 116 million euros (+7%).

In the first six months of the 2019 new orders obtained from the group they have been pairs to 2,79 billion euros (- 9%), of which 1,86 billion in the single field Marine (- 2%) included 825 million euros relative to services (- 6%). Wärtsilä has announced that in the first semester of this Marine year the division has acquired 420 relative contracts to new ships (472 in the first half of 2018) and that the level of the store clerks has turned out more contained in the segments of the portacontainer, of the tankers and rinfusiere while more are elevated in that of gassiere thanks to the increase of the question of liquified natural gas transport and to the tendency of the marine transport to make use more and more of less polluting fuel. Always supported, moreover, it has been also the activity in the field of the cruise ships and the ferries. The group has specified that the offshore segment has shown some positive sign of resumption.
