The Association of Italian Ports wanted to be present at the Meeting for Friendship among Peoples 2026 of Communion and Liberation, in progress in Rimini until 26 August. The participation of Assoporti takes place within the exhibition area of the Ministry of Agriculture. Infrastructure and Transport.

Highlighting that participation in the meeting represents An important opportunity to tell the role of Italian ports as strategic infrastructures at the service of the economy, territories and communities, and to illustrate the main challenges affecting the sector, the president of Assoporti, Roberto Petri - underlined that "being at the Meeting means representing the Italian port system and the contribution that our system can offer to the development of of the country. But it also means taking part in an event that has been able to establish itself over the years as a place of meeting, dialogue and of comparison between institutions, the economic world, culture and society promoting the centrality of the person, of the relationships and the common good. It is a value in which we we particularly recognize why ports are also, for the sake of very nature, places of meeting, exchange and relationship between people, territories, cultures and economies. They are infrastructures strategic for Italy's competitiveness, but at the same time are an integral part of the communities in which and their economic and social development".

"Our presence in Rimini - Petri concluded - is therefore an opportunity to make this reality better known and to discuss with institutions, businesses and civil society on the transformations that are affecting the port system. The challenge is to build increasingly modern ports, sustainable, efficient and integrated, capable of accompanying the growth of the country and to strengthen Italy's role in the Mediterranean and Europe".
