New Study Says Shipbuilding Jobs Could Double if Bill Passes
(Transport News)
October 16, 2000
OTTAWA, Oct. 13 - The number of jobs in Canada's shipbuilding industry could more than double says a new study by KPMG on the effects of Bill C-213 - An Act to Promote Shipbuilding, 1999.
The KPMG study indicates that over 7,000 new jobs could be created, many of them in job-starved Atlantic Canada and Quebec, if Parliament passes Bloc MP Anton Dube's Private Member's Bill C-213, now in its Third Reading.
