Ukraine's Ports: Transit Dynamics

According to the Ukrainian Transport Ministry's Department of Sea and River Transport, the volume of transit cargoes carried via Ukraine's state ports (18 ports) in the first quarter of 2003 made up 13.187 mn tons (+23.1% on the same period of the previous year). While the growth of the overall freight traffic for the first quarter of 2003 made up 9.5%, the transit dynamics for the same period of the previous year amounted to +13.8%. The surpassing growth rates in transit handling were achieved both due to dry cargoes (6.287 mn tons, +26.6%) and liquid bulk (6.9 mn tons, +20%) ......
